Memories are short in Tallahasse. To talk about the success of Bobby Bowden would take much more then this column. That being said, Coach in Waiting Jimbo Fisher will take over the reigns of FSU next year.  To no one’s surprise Charlie Weis is out at Notre Dame. Six wins just doesn’t do it at South Bend. Look for Charlie to quickly become an Offensive Coordinator somewhere in the NFL.

Congrats to 2 deserving Terrapins. LB Alex Wujciak was named to the First Team ALL ACC and Torrey Smith was a 2nd team selection as wide receiver and specialist. Wujciak, a junior, is currently second in the ACC and eighth nationally in tackles (10.9 per game). He racked up 131 tackles in 2009 to become the first Maryland defender to post more than 125 stops (133 in 2008) in back-to-back years since E.J. Henderson (150 in 2001; 175 in 2002).

It was Judgement day for the Ravens. Either win or be virtually finished. Facing a Steeler team without Big Ben or #43 should have presented the Ravens with an easy win. It was anything but easy. Some observations:

The weater was incredible for Nov 29.

Hines Ward was extremely disappointed that #7 didn’t play , almost accusing him of deserting the team. This was caused by Coach Mike Tomlin not informingthe team until Saturday about Ben not playimg. Other Steelers … Read More »

Neither of these 2 firings were unexpected. Lawrence Frank is a great guy who coached the Nets to 2 Eastern finals.  Lawrence actually earned his stripes by being a manager of the Indiana Hoosiers under Bobby Knight’s regime.

The Maryland women’s hoops team (6-1) defeated the Drexel Dragons (2-2), 82-65, Sunday afternoon. The Terrapins are now 3-0 when scoring 80 or more points. Lynetta Kizer returned to the lineup after suffering an ankle injury on Friday. She tallied 13 points in 18 minutes of action. Next up for the Terps is Minnesota Thursday night in the Big 10 Challenge.

Zac MacMath made five critical saves to aid the Maryland men’s soccer team to a win against No. 10 seed Harvard, 2-0, in the third round of the 2009 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship Sunday. Maryland (15-5-2) moved its record to 12-0 when scoring first when Casey Townsend scored the game-winner at 10:45.  The goal is the sophomore forward’s sixth … Read More »

It’s one thing to miss your best defensive player in TroyPolomalu, but the heart of the team is out when #7 decides to sit from concussion effects. Everything is on the line today as the Ravens would never be able to recover this year from a loss to the Steelers at home.  My prediction—Ravens 27    Steelers 10.

Some observations of Ralph’s press conference:

It was pretty emotional today watching Ralph take the grilling questions today ith his family, Dr Yow, and every local press guy in attendance.

I thought Ralph was at his best today, very emotional ,but fielding every question  even those about his future as Terrapin head coach.

I asked Ralph about his impressions of Jamarr over the past 2 games and does he have what it takes to be QB1.  Ralph responded that he … Read More »

Some observations of another disappointing loss:

Jamarr Robinson looked excellent in defeat. In the series he was in , Jamarr threw 3 on the money bullet passes. He also engineered the last TD drive to close the gap to 19-17.

Torrey Smith finished a brilliant season with a TD reception late in the game.

35000 at the game today with the student sections obviously being effected by theThanksgiving holiday.

Alex Wujciak had 12 tackles today.

It was an emotional for … Read More »
