Mark Turgeon
Opening Statement:
“I’m really proud of the crowd tonight. The weather was bad. Our last three home games the weather has been really bad. Our fans have shown toughness just like my team. I was really proud of that. I thought we were terrific. I’ve been really hard on Bruno [Fernando] in the film sessions. He locked into the defensive game plan tonight and was ready to go. He was locked in and it was great to … Read More »
Megan Whittle and Jen Giles combined for nine goals as the top-ranked Maryland women’s lacrosse team outlasted No. 5 Florida 16-14 Saturday afternoon. UMD used a five-goal run in the second half to break away from the Gators (1-1), while junior goalie Megan Taylor finished with 11 stops as Maryland moves to 2-0 on the year.
“I’m really proud of the team for gutting out the win today,” said Maryland Head Coach Cathy Reese. “It’s … Read More »
10-3 Terps with about 7 minutes to go in the half, and you thought this would be an easy victory. Someone didn’t tell High Point. HP scratched and clawed its way back in the game trailing 12-11 and the 14-13, but never getting over the hump. It was Tim Rotanz and Connor Keely who rand the nets when the game was on the line.
RS Freshman Logan Wisnauskas (Thank you Cuse) scored his first hat trick of his young Terp … Read More »

I will say this –if not for the Marist goalie this game could have been 23-7
Jared Bernhardt and Connor Kelly were in gear on this cold winter night.
The defense again was excellent even without Bryce Young.
Logan Wisnauskas, the Boys Latin sharpshooter remind me of a left handed Grant Catalino. Logan had 2 goals and 2 assists.
Logan looks like the 2nd Cuse transfer (along with Dylan Maltz) who will star at Maryland. Keep em coming Mr Desko.
Some observations of another heartbreaking loss:
Bruno was spectacular last night—21 points–9 rebounds–5 assists–2 Blocks–1 steal
Morsell was 5-11 on FGs –scored 11 points–could not get a call inside
Terps shot 48% but were 5-9 from the Charity stripe–Nebraska was 13-19
James Palmer scored 24 points in 2nd half
Minutes breakdown— Bruno–30, Cowan –40. Huerter 32, Morsell 35, Wiley 36
Terps are 6-9 in conference (1-6 on the road and 5-2 at home)–my guess as to what has to be … Read More »
Maryland had just suffered arguably its most demoralizing defeat of the season, a 91-69 defeat at Ohio State where the Terps didn’t look like they belonged in the building with the Buckeyes. Even the 30-point loss at Michigan State eight days prior wasn’t quite as egregious, surmised UMD head coach Mark Turgeon, considering Maryland played well for one first-half stretch.
But that OSU loss Jan. 12 forced Turgeon’s hand, and he knew drastic changes had to be made. Particularly on … Read More »
