Senior Kristy Black tallied a career-high five goals to help lift No. 5 Maryland over #15 Georgetown 19-10 Wednesday on Senior Night.
The Terps (17-3) picked up their fourth win in six days, including their third against an opponent ranked in the top 15 nationally. Alex Aust led the attack with seven points on four goals and three assists. The three helpers moved the junior into third on the Terps’ single-season list with 50.
Juniors Karri Ellen Johnson and Kristy Black combined for nine goals to pace No. 1 Maryland past No. 20 Boston College, 20-9, in Atlantic Coast Conference action Sunday. Johnson (5g) led a group of five Terps in double-digit scoring, including Black (4), Laura Merrifield (3), Brandi Jones (2) and Katie Schwarzmann (2). Sarah Mollison dished out a game-high five assists and sophomore Alex Aust added three.
A tenacious defensive effort sparked No. 1 Maryland to a 13-2 victory over No. 16 Penn State Sunday in the Terps’ home opener. A combination of ex Northwestern stars of Katrina Dowd, Christian Kjellman and Lindsey Munday led Team USA to a dominating win over Maruyland forced to play without 2 of its key players, Brittany Poist and Katie Schwartzmann-both members of Team USA.
