Which is a bigger story? Truthfully, any golfer who strays his drives like Tiger did the past 2 days will probably succumb to the same fate of missing the cut. But the real story here is a 59 year old man, albeit the greatest Links player of all time, is leading the Open Championship after 2days. Yes, this could be the biggest sports story of the decade should Watson win the Claret Jug!!
Tiger Woods misses the the cut in “The Open”. ABC executives are sick. No one other than hard core golf fans watch the sport unless Tiger Woods is in contention. However a great story is unfolding. 59 year old Tom Watson, a 5 time winner of the world’s most revered golf tournament is tied for the lead after 36 holes. Last year, 54 year old Greg “The Shark” Norman, a two time Open champion, played exceptionally well for 54 holes before … Read More »
I often wonder why ESPN doesn’t televise the early teeoff times at the British Open. Tiger, Lee Westwood, and a Japanese teen sensation tee off at 4:09 EST. I had the privilege of going to Scotland one time and among the courses I played were Royal Troon and Turnberry. Royal troon was the more difficult of the 2 with many 200 plus carries that were not kind to my straying tee shots. Add 30 mile an hour winds and intermittent … Read More »
I would like to see Baez traded. I think Huff will get traded. If he does get traded Salazar and Wigginton would split time playing first. If Berken doesn’t have a real good start next time out I would think Tillman will come up and Berken would go to the bullpen if the O’s trade a pitcher like Baez or going back to Norfolk to start. Hill is the next pitcher on the “what to do” with him list. I would guess when Isturiz comes back he’ll … Read More »
Three days ago the big question was who would his 15th major first –Tiger or his buddy Roger Ferderer, Well after 1 round Tiger is 10 shots off the lead and before the start of Wimbledon, the nemisis of Federer, Raffi Nadal is out of the tourney with a knee injury. Tiger needs a round of 3 or 4 underto get in some contention for the crown.
It’s way too easy to pick Tiger so here goes my uneducated opinion about the US Open:
Winner: Sergio—the quick checks are gone–his time is now—played great last time Open was in Bethpage
2nd : Tiger—-picking against Eldred has no future —-check out his putting
3rd Retief Goosen 4Th Jim Furyk 5th Rocco Mediate 6th: Ian Poulter 7th: Vijay Singh 8th:Padraig Harrington

Two incredible birdies on 16 and 17 catapulted Tiger back into the Winners Circle of the Memorial. When Tiger finds the fairways as he did on Sunday he is virtually unstoppable. On Thursday June 18 Terp Talk will have as guest cohost Pat Coyner, Woodholme pro to discuss both University of Maryland Golf and the US Open which begins that day.
