Outstanding finishes by its fall sports programs have the University of Maryland currently in fifth place nationally in the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Standings,  Maryland placed second in field hockey, reached the quarterfinals in men’s soccer and the round of 16 in women’s soccer during NCAA Championship play this fall. Zagsblog.com reports that the Terrapins have expressed interest in Jio Fontan. Fontan, a 19-year-old freshman point guard out of St. Anthony in Jersey City, led the Rams in scoring (15.3 points per game), assists (4.7) and steals (33) while adding 2.7 rebounds per game. More news as it develops.
