          Finally, Football season is here for the Terrapins. Monday marked day one of the preseason for 105 Maryland student athletes. notably absent from camp is highly touted wide receiver recruit , Kevin Dorsey who is most likely out for the season with a foot injury.  One major move for the Terps was Kenny Tate being switched to Strong Safety, with his option to return to wide receiver.       A new crop of freshmen arrived on campus Saturday evening and will join the Maryland football team for preseason practice.  Twelve student-athletes join fellow true freshmen Devonte CampbellKevin DorseyMatt Furstenberg and Demetrius Hartsfield on the roster.     As George Sherrill got out #3 and his 30th save, the entire team breathed a collective of relief as the Birds finally ended this Sunday loss streak that has effectively ruined their season.       Maryland Grad and LA comedian , Mike Rosolio will be on Terp talk tonight on ESPN Radio. Dino joins in as co host Thursday night. Among topics of discussion will be all Maryland news, the continued ESPNU saga, the WNBA Brawl, the start of Ravens camp, and the trading deadline for the O’s. Mike is an alumni of the comedy troop Sketchups at College Park and currently writes, produces and sometimes stars in Mania TV.

     As the Brett Favre sweepstakes begins, the Ravens opened camp with Boller, Troy Smith and Flacco battling for the #1 spot.  Every time I watch Boller with that short arm toss, my stomach crawls.  Look for Troy Smith to emerge as #1 and the Ravens to show no interest in #4 (Favre).

    Ex Terrapin,  Jared Gaither seems destined to attempt to fill the shoes of legendary retired Ravens tackle Jonathan Ogden.  Is he ready for the position that protects the blindside of the QB or is Adam Terry more qualified.  The Ravens believe Jared is the man or as Ozzie responded when I asked last week if Jared was ready, he responded “he’d better be.”

    Four star recruit De’Onte Arnett became the 13th verbal commitment the Terrapin football team has received for the 09 class.  This is the defensive end that seems to have eluded the Terps over the past 5 years.  A rising Senior at Forestville High, Arnett  is the #11 ranked DE in the country according to rivals.com.
