Maryland’s young basketball team appears to have finally grown up. Alyssa Thomas had 16 points and 13 rebounds, and the 15th-ranked Terrapins had four other players score in double figures Sunday in an 88-65 victory over No. 10 North Carolina. It was Thomas’ fourth double in her first five ACC games. Coach Brenda Frese knew it would take a while for a team with six freshmen and not a single senior to play at its best. Judging by Maryland’s performance … Read More »

It’s good to be back in the win column but I assure you it took a heackuva effort to complte the task. Afterward Gary was extremely pleased with the play of his Seniors, as Adrian, Cliff and Dino played excellent games. Some thoughts on a tough ACC battle:

Gary post game:”I thought our offense was as efficient as it’s been in a while. Clemson is a team that has been winning, and you can tell by the way they play. … Read More »

It pains me to even think about the fact that tomorrow, we should all be going to M&T to watch an AFC Champiuonship Game, but alas we are not. We must suffer through a game between our enemy and whatever the Jets are. The Jets will win this game because the Steelers are so beat up from last week. Revis island reminds me of when Deion Sanders used to shut down 1/2 of the field in his playing days. Cromartie … Read More »

Could there be a light at the end of the tunnel? For the first time in several years I can actually say a Wizards game kept me on the edge of my seat. Each Day John Wall gets better and if he ever develops a consistent outside shot , he will be unstoppable. The Celtics laid off of him, gave him the shot but Wall kept busting into 3 defenders and tonight came out ahead. this was truely a packed … Read More »

Atlanta Falcons Record: 13-3* Torrey Smith, WR, Maryland

Atlanta needs to develop a pass-catching target across from Roddy White, and Smith is a guy who can get downfield, work underneath and will always be a home run threat when he catches the ball. He also offers a serious threat in the return game. Atlanta doesn’t have a lot of holes and Smith could help take this offense to another level as an explosive threat opposite White.

Diandra Tchatchouang made a driving layup with 6 seconds left in OT, leading the #14 ranked Lady Terps to victory. Diandra also hit a 3 to force overtime. UVA squandered a 6 point lead with 2 minutes left in regulation. Alyssa Thomas scored 18 with 12 rebounds for Maryland. Next up–the Tar heels at Comcast Sunday night.

Sunday’s AFC Championship Game in Pittsburgh is a must see for football fans who like the game played the way it was meant to be played, by running the football and playing defense. The Jets finished the season as the 4th best team at running the football and the 3rd best at stopping the run while the Steelers boast the #1 ranked rush defense with the more balanced attack on offense.

The Jets and the Steelers met back in … Read More »

The Hokies are certainly not deep but their starting was awfully strong tonight as they jumped out to 12-0 lead and never really looked back. Senior Malcolm Dulaney had his usual excellent game playing 39 minutes. The ironic thing is that in the 1 minute he missed, the Terps actually made their only run of the night. Seth Greenberg panicked as Cliff Tucker got hot and helped trim the lead back to 8. Dulaney returned and that was that. Erick … Read More »
