The defense has abandoned Varlamov leaving him on an island by himself making saves. Monday will be Judgement Day for the Caps. A win brings home a Game 7 on Wednesday, a loss starts the second guessing about what happened and who is to blame.
Pittsburgh owned this game as soon as they took the lead 2-1, but trouble could be brweing for Crosby led Penquins as maybe their 2nd or 3rd best player, Sergei Gonchar, was taken out by #8 on a tripping penalty. Alex Ovechkin scored one and assisted on the tying goal, but the Penquins avoided disaster, winning in overtime on a deflected goal. Have no fear, as long as Varlamov is stellar in goal the Caps victory is only a matter of when. Sidney Crosby assisted on 2 goals for Pittsburgh. The series resumes Friday night.
WOW!!!! Games like this will make a hockey fan of me. Alex and Crosby matched hat tricks last night at Verizon but he Caps came out on top due to another goal by #39 Dave Steckel. #8 was incredible as usual actually putting the game out of reach with his 2 third period goals. Remember a series doesn’t really start until a team wins on the road. The Caps have held serve.

Tonight all the marbles are on the line in game 7 against a ridiculously undermanned Ranger team. The Caps should win easily and will especially if they score first. Caps 4 Rangers 2 onto the 2nd Round. Donald Brashear is lucky all he received was a 6 game suspension. I guess he is necessary to protect #8 but why not take out an idiot like Avery.
