Former Sun beat writer, now ESPN blogger, Heather Dinich summarized her predictions for the Terrapins this year:

1. First-year defensive coordinator Don Brown will have the right plan but the front seven will be a step behind in executing it. Brown was a great hire, and his aggressive defensive philosophy will be an upgrade, but Maryland’s front seven is comprised of relatively unknown, unproven players. The Terps will rely heavily on linebackers Alex Wujciak and Adrian Moten to replace a … Read More »

The following is from gamerosters.com: 6. Maryland (3-5) Coach: Ralph Friedgen (9th year) –” The Terrapins struggled on offense last year under first year coordinator James Franklin and his West Coast system. This year however, the Terps return starting QB Chris Turner and a deep group of running backs led by All-ACC performer Da’Rel Scott. Despite the loss of 1st round pick Darrius Heyward-Bey, Maryland will boast one of the deepest and fastest set of WR’s in the conference. Turner and … Read More »

I just read an interesting article on Maryland QB1 Chris Turner by Jeff Barker in the Sun. The following is his synopsis of Turner:

Assets: Poise, smarts, toughness. Turner is at his best in big games. Maryland says he has led the Terps to six wins in seven games against Top 25 teams in the AP poll. Among the most memorable came when he entered after Jordan … Read More »

Some observations of the Red White scrimmage, won by the White squad 34-24.

QB1, Chris Turner played well throwing 3 touchdowns and seemed very comfortable with Adrian Cannon who caught 2 of the TDs.

More important, Jamarr Robinson showed himself to be a more then adequate backup QB throwing 3 TDs and runnig a smooth offense.

The star of the day was Quintin McCree who caught all 3 TDs from Robinson.

It was obvious Ralph pulled back his defense today, … Read More »

This loss hurts deeply.  Maryland’s failure to cope with the spread offenseled to total domination by the Blue Raiders.  Chris Turner was generally ineffective, throwing 3 interceptions .  DaRel Scott rushed for 123 yds on only 11 carries. Obi Egekeze again missed a crucial tieing FG. Darrius only was involved in 3 plays.Pass rush was non-existent.  This can go on and on.  Next Saturday vs Cal will be a gut check game for the Terps.  The season must … Read More »

After cruising through the Oregon secondary in the first period with 2 TD drives,  Maryland reverted to earlier season woes with 2 turnovers and several drive killing dropped passes to allow OSU to rally to a 14-14 halftime tie.  Chris Turner was sharp throughout the half throwing 2 TDs, the second a 63 yard bomb to Heyward Bey.  As we spoke about on Terp Talk, Ralph really had the troops ready to play.  The running game however was non-existent.  For the … Read More »

The cards were on the table—win and go to a Bowl or lose and the year is over.  The Terps responded with a total team effort and destroyed NC State on the road 37-0.  Earlier in the day, I defended Ralph for his removing of Turner in the FSU game as a wake up call for the California kid, and Chris Turner was perfect throwing and running the Terps to the Humanitarian  or Emerald Bowl!!!!!!  Stay tuned for … Read More »
