Finally after months of discussion and anticipation, Greivis Vasquez and the Maryland Terrapins return to the hardwood at 8PM at the Comcast Center. With the addition of James Padgett and Jordan Williams, the Terps have solved the big man problem they faced last year. I will blog live from the game tonight and certainly will have a post game summary with interviews.
First things first–this was only an exhibition game but Gary’s teams always play at a frenetic pace. Tonight was no exception. Some comments on the game.
The 2 Freshmen turned in excellent performances after shaking away 1st game jitters. James Padgett was 4-5 from the field and had 4 rebounds in 22 minutes of action. His inside moves are excellent. The best news of the day is the return of the offensive prowess of Senior guard Eric Hayes who has been nursing a turf toe. Eric seems to have found his shooting which will be so crucial for the Terps. Steve Goins sat out the practice with knee problems. Jordan Williams’ play was certainly improved over last week. Each time I watch Lance’s high school teammate, I keep saying to myself can this guy be this good? James has great inside moves, his strength belies his size but his ability to continue moving without the ball will be what James will be remembered by. The continued improvement of Steve Goins and the development of Jordan Williams will be the key factors in the effect Padgett will have as a Freshman. Again, I anxiously await next Tuesday night.
It was an impressive scrimmage where the pace and quality of play was all out for 40 minutes. Some observations.
Sean Mosley’s floor game was sensational as he finished with 21 points and 10 assists. Sean had many fast break passes that were perfect and led to snowbird layups.

From the terrapintimes.com, it is obvious that Terrence Ross is going to be a special Terp. terrence elected to stay at Montrose over the summer and work on his game with Coach Stu Vetter and of course get his grades in order. Last year, Baltimore’s Sean Mosley certainly proved he could play on the ACC level. His defense was excellent. His court sense was unmatched by anyone on the team. He did so many little things that don’t show up in the stats. Howver his offenseive output was not as excellent. Now , he appears much more comfortable. For many faithful Maryland followers the start of the basketball season can’t come fast enough considering the so far disappointing campaign the football team is having. The Terps have been ranked in the pre-season top 25 by several publications. What can we look forward to and what questions need to be answered. Terrapintimes.com reports that Jordan williams is beginning to show the power and finesse in the pickup games at Comcast. Eric Hayes continues to nurse a turf toe injury. Adrian Bowie, Greivis and Sean Mosley seem to have their A games alive and well. 22 days until Midnite Madness!!!
