I just watched a few minutes of the Chargers game today and heard nothing but praise for the efforts of the former Raven and Terrapin. Guess who the Ravens play next week?
What a miraculous, insane Monday night game last night. The Ravens almost blew a 21-0 and then a 28-7 lead on tremendous play by former UVA QB Matt Schaub. The Ravens defensive players were literally out of gas as Schaub marched the Texans to 2 drives of 99 and 95 yards to tie the game. The Ravens offensive line and in general the Ravens offense has not been the same since Jared Gaither has been out. Whether or not Michael Oher is stronger at left tackle has no bearing on the fact that when both were in the lineup the running game was as strong as it has ever been.
The Ravens have 2 prime tackles. ONe “Mr Blind Side” is a superstar who can play either position and is content to be a right tackle knowing that his counterpart Jared Gaither had the position before his arrival. Jared Gaither has not reacted well to the move. If the Raven had a competent right tackle other then Oher, then it would make sense to move #74 to the left side. BUT THEY DON’T. Jared will go in for a MRI this week to diagnose his recent injury to his foot. So much for all the negative speculation.
The movie star’s role is complete. Michael Oher has taken the starting left tackle position position away from Jared Gaither. Jared now becomes the right tackle.
