Just when we had written off Lance Stephenson from the Maryland picture, his Dad announces in USA Today that the choice for his son is down to Maryland and Arizona. This is after the Terps had been written off weeks ago with Adam Zagoria saying his sources said Gary’s system was too rigid for Born Ready. I said that was hogwash then and I stand by it now. While it might be true that maybe Lance wanted Kansas or Kentucky … Read More »
Replacing Calvin Borel in the saddle with Mike Smith is like having Arod pinch hit for Jeter — you could make a case either way. One thing I know, Bird won last week, famed filly Rachel Alexandra, did not. With the defection by Borel to the filly, the trainer is calling on New Mexico Native Mike Smith to guide her to victory. All the experts are deserting Bird. Not me/ Mine That Bird will effortlessly.
It is clear the Ravens starting QB is Joe Flacco. But now it is not so clear who is the backup. The Ravens signed John Beck to a 1 year deal. Beck started several games for OC Cam Cameron during his brief Miami tenure.

I guess his 40 time of 4.3 and his 38″ vertical leap has finally awoke some of the NFL teams besides the Ravens. It seems the Ravens won’t get lucky and have DHB slip down to 26th. The Oakland Raiders were impressed with his workout and now the New York Jets are entering the picture. The next few weeks should be exciting for the McDonogh lad.
Starters #1 and #2 proved to be more then adequate in the opening series. The verdict on #3,4,5, will not be known for a while but the opening argument was very weak. Tex, Cano, and Swisher all homered for th Yanks as a key bases loaded strikeout in the bottom of the 3rd by Aubrey Huff turned the tide to the Bombers. Pennant winning Tampa invades Camden Yards tonight.

Opening day is Monday at 4PM vs the Yankees and for the first time in years it is an absolute sellout. Here’s hoping the starting pitching isn’t as bad as everyone says it is.
I still believe the Ravens will select Darriius Heyward Bey or NC State’s Hakeen Nicks with … Read More »
Eric DeCosta wanted to have a look at DHB. Being less then an hour away, Eric brought his young gun, #5, down to College Park to really test the projected 1st Round receiver. Flacco was impressed with all aspects of Darrius’ game. Look for the Ravens to make Darrius its #1 pick should he last to #26. This is doubtful, however. When Darrius clocked a 4.3 in the 40 and then followed it up with a 38 inch vertical, his stock … Read More »
This is almost too bizarre to believe. Repeating his antics from last year, Agent Zero has declared he is ready to return to the Wizards lineup, to help the Wizards close out their current disastrous year (15-56 currently.) It seems like no one else from the Wizards organization knew anything about the decision. Gilbert has missed the entire season with a knee injury after receiving a near max contract. Compound this loss with the injury to Brendan Heywood and thus … Read More »
