Perhaps GM Ernie Grunfeld has found a new formula for NBA success. Watch how your team plays with 7 or 8 free agents to be. It was easy to observe the “New Look” Wizards treating the Verizon crowd to an all out lay your body on the line performance last night . Nothing triggers victory like aggressive defense!!!What a … Read More »
From the corner of Ripley’s believe it or not, Michael Lee reports in the Washington Post that after the incredible dismantling of a franchise, the man who caused the seismic upheaval, Gilbert Arenas, is likely to remain on the team. “Gilbert is still one of the top players in this league. He’s under contract and he’s going … Read More »
Let’s not sugarcoat what happened last night. Josh Howard and Drew Gooden are not in the future plans of the Wizards. The resigning of Gilbert has now completed its 100% whiplash, the team is in total freefall . Only Antawn is left and I am sure he wants out. I am speculating that the key reason for this … Read More »
Midway through the 2nd quarter , I just had to ask TNT’s David Aldridge, Ron Thompson, and others on Press Row who was wearing the #7 jersey for the Wizards. Surely it wasn’t Andre Blatche. 13-15 from the field. Incredibly aggrssive all over the court. What message did Flip get over to Andre. The kid was truely unbelievable. Gilbert dropped a 32 on the Nets playing only about 25 minutes. And yes, Ernie Grunfeld is hands down EXEC of the … Read More »
I knew it wouldn’t take long for a class act and successful coach like Eddie to land on his feet . A piece of advice for Eddie: stay away from Gilbert.
As Chris Bosh swished his 3 point shot with 9 seconds to go after another Wizard collapse, I breathed a sigh of relief. The Wizards needs to lose to the Celtics on Wednesday and hope the Cliipers win at home against the Thunder. This sequence of events would put the Bullets in 2nd position (19%) to land Blake Griffin. Following up last night’s report, despite denials from the Wizards PR dept, Flip Saunders has been offered a 4 year 19 … Read More »
Somebody email me and tell me I am crazy. Why win this game tonight? Sacramento insured itself of the highest probability of getting the rights to the clearest draft franchise player in years, Blake Griffin. The Wizards moved to 19-61 with a victory while the Clippers are 19-60. Adding Blake Griffin to the Wizards turns them into instant contenders.
This is almost too bizarre to believe. Repeating his antics from last year, Agent Zero has declared he is ready to return to the Wizards lineup, to help the Wizards close out their current disastrous year (15-56 currently.) It seems like no one else from the Wizards organization knew anything about the decision. Gilbert has missed the entire season with a knee injury after receiving a near max contract. Compound this loss with the injury to Brendan Heywood and thus … Read More »
Ernie Grunfeld has now placed the immediate future of the Wizards franchise in the hands of recently oft injured Gilbert Arenas. I have always believed that the organization thinks it is ready to win the NBA Title with the Big 3 as its nucleus. Time will tell. The Wizards open up their summer league schedule Monday night with the Portland Trailblazers at 8PM on Comcast.
I know that I have been negative on Gilbert’s resigning with the Wizards but I have to admit that he did keep his word, by reducing the offered contract by 16 million. About one month ago, Gilbert said he would take less and resign if and only if the Wizards resigned Antawn. So within 72 hours of Jamison’s signing, Arenas rejected the 6 year max contract (127 million) offered by Ernie Grunfeld and agreed to a 6 year deal … Read More »
